I am the mother of 4 young boys who are currently 5,7,9 and 11 years old. This week my 5 year old started primary school, my 11 year old started intermediate, and my husband started in a new position at work, so, needless to say, my mind has been all over the place and my house looks like a tornado just bolted through it! There is washing piled up, all the bedrooms are disaster zones, the house needs to be vacuumed and our puppy has created a graveyard of old stuffed toys out on the lawn.
So as I sit to write this blog I wonder why does this not stress me out and bother me too much and how do I tolerate so much mayhem in my life? The first thing that comes to my mind is balance. Balance is what keeps me strong. Balance is my key.
Whenever I feel stressed out and exhausted I know that I need to recharge. So with this in mind, this morning, I went and recharged my soul with a stroll through the fair in town, no kids, coffee in hand, enjoying the sunshine, and relishing my quiet time where nobody expects anything from me, just wandering around enjoying some special ME time. I only needed 2 hours and that was enough to recharge me to go home to the crazy chaos that awaited.
Another way I recharge is by having extra sleep so I make that a priority by going to bed earlier than usual and I have a well deserved sleep in. Normally I would go to bed around 10pm however when I am feeling slightly run down then I know I need to be in bed by 9. I also have a detox bath with essential oils and Epsom salts quite regularly which I find helps me to gain more clarity and perspective and release any stress I may be feeling.
So even though my life can be very crazy, messy and stressful at times, I know how to work with it and I know what rejuvenates me. When there's a tornado going through my home I just move with it, as I know it wont last too long and I know how to get back on track.... with some ME time.
When you are feeling low on energy, exhausted, run down or like you just have nothing left to give you need to ask yourself "What is it that rejuvenates ME?" Everyone is different so walking around a fair or having an essential oil bath may not do it for you! Maybe you feel rejuvenated by going swimming or just hanging out with family or friends, having a bit of retail therapy or walking in nature. Have a think about what rejuvenates you, what fuels your fire, and this will help you in times of mayhem :)
